Currently, the requirements for cable fire resistance are increasingly stringent in the fields of fire rescue and fire safety. Flame-retardant cables are a general term for cables with fire-resistant properties, typically divided into two main categories: flame-retardant cables and fire-resistant cables.
The fire-resistant properties of cables mainly include the following:
1) Flame retardancy – It can prevent and delay the spread of flames along wires and cables, preventing the fire from escalating.
2) Fire resistance – Under flame combustion conditions, it can maintain operation for a certain period of time, i.e., maintain the integrity of the circuit. (Circuit integrity)
3) Halogen-free – The materials constituting the wires and cables do not contain halogens, and their combustion products have low corrosiveness, preventing secondary hazards to equipment and personnel.
4) Low smoke – The wires and cables produce less smoke and dust when burning, resulting in higher light transmittance, which is beneficial for fire fighting, rescue, and personnel evacuation.
If the cable model number contains "V" (polyvinyl chloride), the cable should be a halogen-containing cable and cannot be represented by "WDZ" (halogen-free low-smoke flame retardant). Furthermore, it should be noted that due to the inherent characteristics of the material (melting point), aluminum core cables usually do not have fire-resistant models.
